I can't believe that yet another earthquake has occurred. I saw yesterday that the aftershocks of this earthquake have been of a larger magnitude than the actual earthquake in Haiti. The difference between the devastation caused is apparently because of more advanced building codes, earthquake preparedness, etc. in Chile. Sad loss of life.

The death toll has risen to over 700. This earthquake is believed to be 500 times more powerful than the quake in Haiti. The difference is that Chile was more prepared as they have been victim to powerful earthquakes over the years and their buildings were built to withstand the devastation unlike the poorer country of Haiti.
