According to court documents, Michael James Porter, 25, had sexual contact with a 14-year-old and 15-year-old on several occasions. The police reports indicate Porter met the minors when he was serving as a group leader at a church function.

Permalink Reply by C Dogg on May 16, 2012 at 9:40am Having now had a chance to read about the arrest in the paper, I think we need to be very careful about rushing to judgment. There doesn't seem to be any real hard proof that we are aware of establishing Porter's guilt except for the allegations of the alleged victim. If the alleged victim is telling the truth, then it's horrible what Porter did. If the alleged victim isn't telling the truth, then it's horrible what she is doing to Porter. I suspect the police are put in a position of arresting first and asking questions later considering the gravity of the charge, especially in light of the Sandusky tragedy at Penn State.
The victim was 14-15 at the time and she is now 17 or 18. She could not be telling the truth. That is just a fact. I'm not saying that to attack her because if what she alleges occurred did occur it's horrible what he did to her.
Porter has an excellent defense attorney, Jim Lowry, who has, over the years going back at least as far as Jules Camara, become the attorney who represents most UK athletes accused of a crime. Sadly, this could be another case of a person connected to a church using it to be a predator or it could be another false allegation, i.e., the Chuck Hayes rape charge. Either way, it's beyond sad.
