Dear KSN family,

I am writing to ask for your prayers in this time.  My name is Jacob Kiper and my wife and I are having a crisis.  As some of you know, my wife and I are pregnant with twin boys.

.

Early Saturday morning (5/5/12), my wife's water broke and she began leaking amneonic fluid.  As of Saturday, my wife was 21 weeks pregnant.  Our target delivery date is sometime in mid to late August.  My wife has been in the hospital since Saturday and will likely be there until she delivers our baby boys... for better or worse.

.

Our problem is that our babies have zero shot at survival if my wife delivers before 24 weeks.  As of today (5/8/12), we are 21.5 weeks along.

.

My wife is receiving treatment to fight potential infection and contractions.  60% of women with my wife's condition will deliver the babies within 7 days... we're currently on Day 4.

.

On Sunday night, my wife had several contractions... and then they just stopped.  As of 5:10PM on Tuesday, we've had no known contractions since very late on Sunday.

.

We need God's help to prevent contractions and severe pre-term delivery.  If we make it to 24 weeks, we've got about a 50% chance of survival... and right now, I'll gladly take 50%.

.

My wife and I would greatly appreciate all of your prayers.

.

God bless and Go Cats!

A couple of hours later, the contractions slowed enough that the doctor feels comfortable taking Holly off the machine that scans for contractions.  We're certainly not out of the woods yet, but we at least appear to be OK for now... and of course that can change at any minute.

The doctor now feels that Holly likely has an infection.  She will likely be forced to deliver the babies in the next 24-36 hours.  We've got a shot in the NICU... about 50/50

Praying.

Will be hoping and praying for you all..

Thinking and praying for you all.

Sorry for the developement but we will continue to pray.

My baby boys were born today at 23 weeks and 5 days.  They're currently in the NICU at the Women's Hospital in Evansville.  We've been able to touch them and take pictures.  At the moment, they appear to be doing well.  They're both on ventilators and likely will be for a few weeks.  The doctor said that things could take a turn for the worst at any moment, but we're OK for now.

.

Please continue praying for Reid and Sam.

Congratulations to you and your wife!

While I know these are less than ideal conditions, its still a tremendous blessing that the boys have made it this far and we will continue to pray for their health and well-being.

Welcome to Big Blue Country Reid & Sam (even if you ARE in the Hoosier state)!

While my boys are no doubt very small, we were told today that they are actually in upper percentile for babies born at their gestational age.

.

Our boys have some potential complications... as expected... but at this point, the doctors are not overly concerned and feel that they can handle it.  Hopefully, things will progress well.

What are all your names.  I want to put you on some prayer lines here where we live.

The boys are named Reid Marx Kiper and Samuel Robert Kiper.

Congratulations to you and your wife!  Praying that God will continue to watch over your precious little Wildcat babies and you and your wife.
