Justin Green told Joker he was going to sign with Kentucky the day before signing day last year. After spending nearly the whole season as an Ohio State commit, the top rated cornerback in Kentucky signed with Illinois the next day. There's been a lot of speculation as to why he switched at the last minute (I think it was Bob Redman, just my two cents), but it's all pretty much irrelevant at this point. The interesting thing now, is that Green has reportedly made his unhappiness in Illinois known. This might explain why the staff has not accepted Joseph Byrd's commitment, as they may be waiting to see if that scholarship will go to Green. Of course this is all speculation at this point, but if UK could nab Green, that would be the "get" of the year for them. He told Drummond that we'd all know more in a month, which would be the time for him to enroll at Kentucky IF a transfer were to take place. Just food for thought.

I feel comfortable with Kendrick and Adams at TE. Wouldn't hurt if some how Mitchell gets his eligibility

We most certainly do. Tight ends as well.

Wish we had this problem with WRs. We really need some WRs.

I think that if we have a WR or two transfer, that it will become a more pressing position of need. There just are too many on scholarship right now, even though some have underperformed. I would rather take quality over quantity at this position, and we struck out on all the top WR targets this season.

Tight End shouldn't be a position of need any longer. You have Colorado transfer Ryan Wallace, RS-FR Brian Adams(if cleared) and Anthony Kendrick(if eligible), Nick Melillo, and True FR Nermin Delic, Tyler Robinson, and Ronnie Shields. All the freshmen won't stay at TE, but there are enough bodies to hopefully find a solid starter and backup.

I would personally take all three ATH guys (Byrd, Priester, and Justin Green transfer). That being said, I don't know the current scholarship situation that UK is in. They may be holding out for another OL or DL to two that they feel like they need more??? Maybe a couple of the current OL or DL players have indicated that they will transfer at the end of the season, and it's not public yet. Maybe they have someone really good up their sleeve that they're holding out for? Only the staff really knows. But they probably have a really good reason for telling any one of these superb athletes no, if that's what they end up doing.

I know this was touched on already, but wouldn't they take both? I mean, in reality, each could play both positions, i.e. DB-RB, so you are potentially getting an offensive and a defensive player...and I'm just one of those guys, if you have an SEC calibler player with speed to burn, and he WANTS to be a Wildcat now, well, you don't turn him down. I am sure they could work the numbers out...and, do you turn down Byrd for a tremendous talent in Green, but a player that told us once before, the DAY before, that was going to be Cat? I think my old recruiting worries from the Tubby days have carried over to football.

It's looking very likely that Green will be enrolled at UK in the next couple of weeks.

Nice...was he a freshman this year? Did he redshirt, or get any PT or anything?

Green played sparingly as a true freshman at running back. He would be required to use his redshirt and sit out a year to transfer, and would resume playing in 2011 as a redshirted sophomore.
