The article I read that the two champs would play if both are not part of the 4 team playoff, which is similar to the current Rose Bowl situation.  That seems unlikely to ever happen.  How could both conferences' champions get shut out of the 4 team playoff?  I guess it could end up being more of a game between teams that finished second in the respective conferences.

Yeah I am not sure about it either but more than likely you are going to have the 3rd or 4th place team in the SEC playing in the game.
