Kentucky Sports Network

I'm not one to get in a big polictical debate but I did want to say I was sorry.

I voted for Obama and I'm here to say I was WRONG!

I'M SORRY!

Well, sugarshane, Grammy has stayed out of this one after my initial reply to Save. I did that for reason and the reason is the same as yours. I have very definite views on both religion and politics but I believe there's a time to debate certain issues that arise in those areas and there's a time to leave them alone. I appreciate the fact that we have the freedom to comment on whatever we want to comment on and even to debate whatever topic we wish to debate though. I like the Open Topic Forum because it does give us a place to discuss some views on topics other than sports. I just happen to believe that a sports network (other than in this forum) is not the best platform for debating things other than sports. While I definitely do not agree with a lot of what has been in this discussion, I do agree with you on most of what you have said but I respect the rights of everyone to voice their opinions. I'm glad to know you're okay. Go Cats!

I have read this site for a long time and appreciate how we have been able to stay off of the topic of politics. Even though I haven't posted in a while (due more than anything to work) I still read the message boards daily. While I refuse to throw my 2 cents in because I hate starting political fights, I am even more mad when I see religion thrown into the mix. Religion and politics tend to cause more fights than anything else it seems and this is no different. Please refrain from saying that Jesus can't do something even when referring to Bush. I know it is just an expression but nothing makes me more upset than reading or watching people take jabs and mock Jesus. Sorry for adding to the fight but I couldn't keep my mouth shut when reading your closing line to your comment.

I'm with you Kyle, I stand behind my Obama vote as well. I don't believe all of the ridiculous crap that comes from FOX News like the conservative base that votes based on guns and religion. It was not media spin that got people to vote for him, it was having a potential President that had an IQ higher than an average high school grad and a great speaker that was professional...something this country had not seen in 8 years. This country was in the gutter when Obama took over, and he has to do something to fix it. More government is not always bad...deregulation led, in large part, to having to bail out the auto industry and banks with this economic recession, not to mention a completely personal war with Iraq. It gets worse before it gets better, and Obama is brave enough to take those tough steps in the beginning to start that process, instead of starting his next campaign and only say "I'll cut taxes" to make the common folk happy. We actually have a president that is working and trying to fix things, so let him do his job for a while and see what happens. The reason that I am so disgusted with the republican party is that they do not care what so ever about being Americans or our people...they only care about trying to make Obama fail, and persuade everyone he is bad. The only "win" for them is a loss for the Dems...and that is sad. They had their way for 8 years and ruined our country...Obama will fix it in 4...Jesus couldn't come back and fix Bush's mess in a year.

There is my soapbox on this matter. I am done, back to sports.

I'm not being antagonistic, but do you get upset b/c you feel they are being disrespectful towards Jesus when people make those comments?

Really Sugarshane? That was not a slur at religion at all, only to those that put themselves and their own interests ahead of the good of the nation. If that was my intention, then I could have been much harsher and detailed how the republican party uses religion to gain politically.

I do agree with JBR that the GOP uses religion and fear for their political gain while preying upon those that are easily influenced. However, the Dem's are no angels either. (Does the word "angels" in that context offend anyone)
