UK returns more than 3000 tix to U of L

Yet another bad sign for Joker and the UK program...  UK has returned more than 2000 of their 5500 ticket allotment. That is astounding that a rivalry game, 70 miles away, on a holiday weekend and you can't sell more than 3000 tickets.

From the U of L press release:

Single game tickets for the University of Louisville's opening football game against the University of Kentucky will go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. for Cardinal football season ticket holders only. UofL will face the Wildcats on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m. in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The single-game tickets are from the 2,060 returned last week by Kentucky from their fan allotment of 5,500 for the game. They will be made available only to UofL football season ticket holders for $50 each ($46 single-game season ticket rate plus $4 handling fee), with a maximum of four tickets to purchase per account. Season ticket holders can buy the tickets by logging into their "My Cardinal Account," which can be accessed directly by clicking here on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Shameful.  Simply shameful.

I think these were "season ticket" holders...not sure why they didn't offer them to everyone. I know quite a few folks who would have loved to get tickets.

UK does a very poor job of advertising these tickets.  In 2006, they announced had tickets for the UK and UofL game and many people bought them.  It makes you wonder if they didn't want to be embarrassed about it.  If that's the case, they were naive to think Tom Jurich's athletic department wouldn't run to the press immediately telling them this.

I listened to the earlybirds show on 790 a.m. in Louisville they were talking about it quite a bit.  I've yet to hear them say one word this week about recent developments in the Clint Hurtt/Shapirio situation.

I just read where UK has said they did hold some tickets back and folks could get them by calling the ticket office.

Still a poor job of handling this.

UK marketing doing a poor job of handling football? You don't say? Surely you jest?
