Not saying that Joker doesn't deserve the criticism and as I've said he should not be brought back next year, but I don't understand why Sanders doesn't face more criticism. In fact I hear people say that if we brought in Fulmer or Cutcliffe we could get him to stay... WHAT?????
He is the one calling plays and he is terrible at it. He was terrible at Tennessee. He got ran out of there because he was so bad.
He throws players under the bus routinely in his post game interviews. Whereas Joker always says it is he responsibility to get players ready and etc... Sanders never takes responsibility for bad QB play or questionable play calls. It's always the QB fault, (said players is limited, couldn't do what they wanted, expected someone at this level to be able to do such and such) Instead of working with what he has, he wants the players to conform to him. I mean Max Smith has been out for 6 weeks now and they still have tailored and efficient offense to one of the other QB's
The one trumpet everyone blows for Sanders is his ability to coach QB's but I even question that... his success stories are Tee Martin, Andre Woodson and Peyton Manning.... I'm not sure he had much to do with Manning being successful... But lets look at the other QB's he's "coached up" At UK: Mike Hartline, Morgan Newton, Will Fidler, Ryan Mossakowski, Max Smith, Jalen Whitlow, Patrick Towles... at UT since Tee Martin: Brent Shaeffer, Erik Ainge, Casey Clausen , Rick Clausen, AJ Suggs. Not exactly genius all the time.
good points all around...UK needs to do a total housecleaning, it is up to Brainfart to see if he will actually go through with it.
Well said. He's the one responsible for consistently throwing the ball three yards short of the sticks on third down! A Tennessee alum I worked with said that's why he was fired.
Amen to all points, I could not agree more.
After reading and listening to Robs post Kentucky needs to clean house after this season in my view.
It's easy to see his short comings after the fact isn't it? I'm no one, but I was calling for his head two years ago (Randy's), along with Steve Brown's. I gave Rick M. a pass last year because he was bringing in an entirely new defensive plan with the 3-4 in his first year, but said he should be next on the block if we saw the same mishandling on that side of the ball. Well guess what? We saw it again this year and then some! To be honest I wasn't a big fan of Brooks either, but at least he won and we rarly looked like we had no chance on the field. He did it by getting his coaches to coach up less tallented players to play better than they were expected. We didn't get the best recruits but the kids were coached up and played with heart. When we see 40-0 to Vandy at home, the hearts gone! Sander want's to go home and talk to the dog? Give me a break.
Again, Joker made the move to go after recruiters vs. developers of tallent. In my opinion we have some very tallented players now, but no one to coach them up. I love Joker to death but he could've corrected all of these issues and failed to do so.Clean house!!!
I was shocked he wasn't let go after the 2011 season. I thought for sure he was going to be the sacrificial lamb and he should have been.
I hope UK has learned not to hire coaches who have been fired at bigger programs. If Sanders couldn't get it done at UT when they were on a roll (he took over as OC the year after they won the national championship and his first game as OC was the national championship game), how was he suppose to be good at UK? It was also a bad sign that the year after Sanders was fired, 2007, David Cutcliffe returned to OC at UT and UT's offense was significantly better.
Larry Vaught said yesterday on the radio that 3 times Towles walked to Sanders on the sidelines after a series and Sanders just walked away. What is up with that? Way to coach up the true freshman QB. Glad to see Sanders moving on.
