Big Blue fun!

Dear “MAN Landers”

I wanted to comment on our girl’s soft ball team.

I am not sure whether to put in the baseball forum or open forum?  I mean it is baseball; technically, it is baseball with a softball.  So do I count it as baseball with a softball or should I put it in an open Forum?   Then there is the gender thing.  Are Female sports different than male sports?   Should we have a women’s sports forum?

Soooooooooooo should I enter my women’s softball…

Calipari Still Stockpiling Talent For 2012 - 2013

Still , can any one in their wildest dreams believe the run that UK basketball is on…

CBS cameras caught what looked like a UK student wearing a blue t-shirt that had white letters which simply said , " Were Just Better " . That summed up the championship game against Kansas as well as the entire 2011 - 2012 NCAA basketball season in three words when making reference to the Kentucky… Continue

UK Begins March Thru The South To Final Four

By - Ira D. Combs

Why build a new Rupp Arena or even renovate the present when UK can't play an NCAA tournament game in it and the new 14 member SEC is changing the landscape of non conference regular season scheduling down to only an ever other year mega Battle of the Bluegrass with the Cards . Don't need anything more than we've got for the pigeons and ducks that will wander thru the November and… Continue

Winning Percentage before and after One-and-Done players

(For understanding why I am posting these blogs, see my first one.)

There are debates every year throughout the college basketball season about which is more valuable for winning: experience or talent. These talks seem to peak in early March when the NCAA starts its annual tournament, March Madness. Backing up a little bit, no fan typically wants to see their team lose; typically,…

One and Done?

The most celebrated player at the University of Cincinnati since Oscar Robertson donned the red and black is the 2000 National Player of the Year, Kenyon Martin; who also ironically enough was awarded the Oscar Robertson Trophy. Martin, to this date, is the last American-born college senior to be drafted into the NBA as the number one pick. Since then the overall pick has been taken most abundantly by elite college freshman, four times.

When a college player leaves school after one…

Approximately one month ago several of my media friends and a few of my loyal readers of this column questioned my sports intelligence or sanity when I stepped up to the plate and predicted John Calipari would take this team and sail into the March Madness portion of this college basketball season unblemished at 16 - 0 .

Honestly , the morning after I wrote that column I was… Continue

While it is a given that the SEC is the elite conference of college football there is also an on going debate on who is the " King of college football " annually because the pig skin dominated conference has the past six years BCS champion divided among four of it's member schools Florida , Auburn , LSU , and Alabama .
