The Krystal Ball: The At Least It Is A Day Game Edition
Hello everyone and welcome to another TKB. Last week was a good one for me going a perfect 8-0. That makes the record 34-5 for the year.
Another huge week in the SEC so let's get right to it.
Kentucky at LSU- (12:20 SEC Network- WKYT)- The last time these two teams met, LSU was ranked Numer One and that worked out pretty well for Kentucky. Unfortunately this probably won't be the case this time.
For anyone looking for a glimmer of hope…

The Krystal Ball- The "Nuclear Minter" Edition
Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of TKB. It seems some team from the Bluegrass kept me from a perfect week last week. However 8-1 isn't bad, and that makes the record 26-5 so far for the year. Lots of big games this weekend so let's get to it.
Florida at Kentucky- (7:00 ESPN)- Ok we all know about the streak, 24 in a row the Gators have beaten Kentucky. But after last week's debacle, you would hope the Cats would come out like a bunch of…

Having been in this position for almost fifty years, you would think I would have grown accustomed to the self inflicted misery that comes from being a Kentucky football fan. Why that cluster Saturday night against U of L depressed me after the regimes of Charlie Bradshaw and John Ray and Fran Curci and Bill Curry and Hal Mumme is beyond comprehension. I no longer dream of dominance by our football program: I am prepared to accept competent mediocrity, so why do I feel such malaise on…

There have been a few positive peaks and many deep valleys throughout the past 60 years of Kentucky football . How deep this valley is that UK is presently headed into remains to be seen , more than…

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down - Louisville Edition
Thumbs Up
EJ Fields - A coming out party for Fields, who was seemingly the only person on offense to make plays and the only UK wide receiver to catch and hold on to the ball. As good as his hands were Saturday, it is a little scary it took the staff this long to get him in.
UT Fans - You all were right about Randy Sanders, sorry we laughed at…

The Krystal Ball- The Battle of the Bluegrass Edition
Hello everyone and welcome back to another TKB. Last week was another good one for the old ball going 8-2, making the record 18-4 for the season.
Some big rivalry games this weekend so let’s get right to it.
Louisville at Kentucky-…

The Commonwealth's two flagship universities have played each other 23 times in past years . UK has won 14 and U of L has won 9 with the Cats winning the last four…

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down - Central Michigan Edition
Thumbs Up
Sound System- Every bit as good as advertised. Lots of bass in the end zones causing the seats to vibrate. With a big crowd and a good game, the stadium should be rocking. Still need to mic the band though, as you can still barely hear them. You could not hear the halftime performance at all.
Video/ Ribbon Boards - Very, very nice. Will look even…

The Krystal Ball- The Trying to Get Better Edition
Hello everyone and welcome back to another TKB. Last week was a pretty good one going
10-2 with LSU and Ole Miss being my only losses.
There are a couple of big games in the SEC this weekend and oh yeah Kentucky plays it home opener too.
Central Michigan at Kentucky- (NOON ESPNU)- Let's face it, the Cats didn't exactly set the world on fire last Thursday night down in Nashville. The offense who played poorly will likely be without Matt…

Question Marks Linger for Football Cats
By Ira D. Combs Syndicated Columnist

Are we headed back to the future with UK football ? Please God , no , except for Rich Brooks last four years and a scant few other years we've suffered more than any college football team in America other than our SEC sister in Nashville…

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down - WKU Game
Sorry, this is late. It took a long weekend in Nashville to wash down and digest that turd sandwich we were fed Thursday night!
Thumbs Up
Ryan Tydlacka- MVP. His hang time on his punts was just as amazing as the distance. Left no chance for returns.
Winston Guy- 6 months ago I would have said there was no way I'd ever give this guy a thumbs up, but he was…

The Krystal Ball: Is This the First of Three Games in Nashville???
Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of TKB. A big thanks for everyone who checked out the preview blogs.
The calendar has moved to September and that means one thing- it is football time. A big weekend coming up so let's get right to it.
Western Kentucky vs. Kentucky- (Nashville 9:15 ESPNU)- The Cats start the season playing in a city that many including myself think they will finish the year in December plus a trip to Vandy in…
