Spring Practice Report - Day 4

- Worst day yet for the QB's. Especially for Mossakowski who threw his worst balls of the practice so far. He ran most of the day with the 3's. Hartline and Newton were running with the 1's and 2's switching back and forth. I wouldn't read anything into that as they have switched them up nearly everyday.

- Good news on injury front as Evans was back at practice in pads, but looked to be held out of contact. Mister Cobble was also back battling in the trenches. Cobble…

Hartline? Fidler? Newton? Mossakowski?

After UK's 38-20 loss to third ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, Rich Brooks was asked specifically about his starting quarterback, Mike Hartline. Brooks said that Hartline was basically "a work in progress". He admitted that Hartline didn't play "as well as we would have liked, but he's our best option right now."

Granted Hartline made some mistakes against Alabama. His first interception was horrible - a very bad decision. However, I would like to point out that it is going to be… Continue

The annual butt-whipping is over, as a matter of fact it really wasn't as bad as in past years.

The sun did come up Sunday morning and UK football still can have a fourth consecutive celebration somewhere for the holidays this winter.

All I ask is please don't blame it on Brooks and the coaches and don't blame it… Continue

Memo to Rich Brooks:

Please bury those retirement thoughts underneath the fishing rods in the garage, we need your magic wand another couple years.

The jury is still out on this particular Kentucky football team but more importantly it rests at 2-0 this week, right where it had to be after the first two games going into… Continue

Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down - Louisville Edition

Thumbs Up:

Winning Ugly- It's what the good teams do. Honestly, Louisville played a great game, with a great game plan, and if you can beat a team that is playing it's best at your worst, well than you have a talented football team. UK finding a way to win, when old Kentucky would have withered after the disasterous 3rd and took home an L is somewhat impressive. Even more that these guys came back twice in the 4th quarter for a game they had to win if they hope… Continue

I can't remember anytime in Kentucky's past sports history that I've looked more forward to a college football season than the one starting this week.

With all the sordid affairs, late night drinking binges and ongoings as well as past NCAA probes directly or indirectly associated with present or past UK coaches we can… Continue

Ready for the Redhawks?

“I’m anxious, kind of frustrated, antsy, I’m kind of nervous, I want to go play,” It wasn't Coach Brooks' opening line at today's press conference but it should have been. Do you think Coach Brooks is ready for the start of the season?

The Wildcats open the 2009 season on Saturday against Miami University in Paul Brown Stadium, but for the players, staff, and even fans five days still seems like a long time to wait.

Rich Brooks held his first press conference of the… Continue

Lee Todd, the President of UK, and Mitch Barnhart, UK's Director of Athletics, announced a little over two weeks ago that they felt like it was in the best interest of UK's historic men's basketball program that they go in another direction and fired Billy "Clyde" Gillispie reportedly for several reasons, but emphasized in the press conference… Continue
