Conference Realignment: Collateral Damage

It’s all the rage these days. Everybody’s doing it. Peer pressure at its finest. And like almost all peer pressure mistakes, someone is going to get hurt and get hurt badly… in this case it could be tough times in Lawrence and Louisville among others.

Quick rehash for those of you investigating in Birmingham and not paying attention to rest of the NCAA Sports landscape: If Texas and Co. (UT, TX AM, Baylor, Oklahoma, OSU and TX
Tech) march off to the Pacific… Continue

The annual butt-whipping is over, as a matter of fact it really wasn't as bad as in past years.

The sun did come up Sunday morning and UK football still can have a fourth consecutive celebration somewhere for the holidays this winter.

All I ask is please don't blame it on Brooks and the coaches and don't blame it… Continue

Remember when C.M. Newton and Bill Curry stood alongside their Louisville counterparts, Bill Olsen and Howard Schnellenberger, to join forces for the original "Governor's Cup" and tried to sell us all on the fact that it would promote football in Kentucky by starting the year out annually with the state's premier college football teams… Continue

Cats ready for New Journey

Rich Brooks and his UK football team are only days away from the opening of the 2009 season and another journey through the mega-talented SEC. Two and a half months ago, back in early June, I did an off-season column about where I thought this team would end up at on Thanksgiving weekend after the annual season ending debacle with Tennessee. I… Continue

Better get it right this time Mitch, you only get one mulligan with Big Blue Nation.

You say you know Kentucky and you understand how important basketball is to the Commonwealth and you understand what the fanbase wants in it's coach.

Sorry Mitch, I respectfully and humbly disagree.

Unless your one of us you… Continue

Tough times call for tough decisions. Should he stay or should he go?

The toughtest decision I made today was what shirt to wear.

I sure am glad that I am not Mitch Barnhart. He's got a tough call right now. His job could be on the line. What he decides to do in the next few days can dictate what his legacy is going to be at the University of Kentucky. Keep Bill Gillispie for one more season, or cut him loose?

I think Mitch Barnhart has been great for the University. He has brought more attention and more exposure for the olympic sports. He… Continue

Five Things to Watch for in the NIT

Like many of you, I never thought Kentucky would be playing in the postseason NIT. The fact remains that the Wildcats will begin their march to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night at 9:30 at hallowed Memorial Coliseum against the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV. In the spirit of undying fandom, we bring you Five Things to Watch for in the NIT.

A Second Chance? The reasons for Kentucky's lackluster performance are many: some place the blame squarely on the shoulders of Billy… Continue

KSN-TV: Austin Collinsworth and Bubba Tandy

Austin Collinsworth, the son of Chris Collinsworth, has been gaining a lot of attention lately. Collinsworth was a very productive two-way starter for the Highlands Bluebirds in 2008. Collinsworth had 46 catches for 840 yards and 5 touchdowns, he also finished with 4 interceptions on defense.

KSN covered the state championship game which Highlands won over Christian County. Today, we have put together a couple of highlight reels from that game. The first one is of Collinsworth, the… Continue

Kentucky Sports Film Classic: You Pick the Film Winners!

Hey folks sorry for the long delay on putting up these picks. I have been very busy lately. But as such I have picked the winners of the films that you have selected that I have to review no matter what. I looked at the suggestions that you gave me and I was shocked by some of the picks mostly because t\some of them were awful and some of them I couldn't even find. So sadly Greg Gorman's pick of "The Quarterback Princess" will not be reviewed. But five other films will be reviewed, and here are… Continue

KSN Sports Film Classic: Happy Gilmore (1996)

Happy Gilmore is the ultimate Adam Sandler film. Every comedic film star has that one film in their filmography that defines the persona that they play throughout the rest of their films. Bill Murray had it in Stripes, Eddie Murphy had it in 48 Hrs. with the scene in the redneck bar. Will Ferrell had it with Old School. And Adam Sandler had it with this film. The character he establishes is that of a man… Continue
