The Krystal Ball - Looking At The SEC West and Some Bowl Predictions

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of The Krystal Ball. Last week I took a look at the SEC East, today I will look at the West and predicts some bowls as well.

Like the East, one team should dominate and then after that it is up in the air.

1. Alabama - The defending National Champions start the season as the overwhelming favorite not only in the West but the SEC overall. Heisman winner Mark Ingram returns along with very cabable back-up Trent Richardson… Continue

The Krystal Ball - Looking at the SEC East

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Krystal Ball. Thanks to everyone who made comments on my UK prediction blog. Today I will take a look at the SEC East, where it looks like the more things change the more they stay the same.

1. Florida - It has certainly been an interesting off-season down in Gainesville. Coach Urban Meyer stepped down, then came back a day later, then took another month off after beating Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl.

Tim Tebow has moved on… Continue

The Krystal Ball - Looking At The NBA Draft

Hello everyone and welcome back to another editon of The Krystal Ball. It has been a while since I have done one of these. Kentucky lost in the Elite 8, five guys declared for the pros, and Coach Cal reloaded for 2010 and is doing a pretty good job for 2011. :)

We also got one of the best recruiting assistant coaches in the country in Kenny Payne.

On personal note, I had an addition to my family two weeks ago, Mary Elizabeth.

Tonight is the NBA Draft…

The Krystal Ball - The Fun With Numbers Edition

Hey everyone...I will freely admit to being a numbers geek sometimes and thought it would fun to look at a few things heading into tomorrow night's Regional Championship against West Virginia.

35--- With last night's win this year's team tied the 97 and 98 teams for second most in school history. A win tomorrow will tie the Fabulous Five's record of 36. Kind of appropriate.

35--- Coach Cal tied Tubby Smith's record of most wins by a coach in their first season…

The Krystal Ball - The Senior Day Edition

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of TKB. Last week was another so-so week for me going 3-3. This puts me at 20-10 for the season and squarely on the NCAA Bubble. However with my strength of schedule I think I will get in. It is the last week of the regular season so let's get right to it.

Florida at Kentucky--- (Sunday NOON-CBS)--- The Wildcats will be saying goodbye to three seniors on Sunday. Ramon Harris, Perry Stevenson and Mark Krebs. More than…

The Krystal Ball---The SEC Champs Are Here Edition

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of TKB. Last week was so-so going 3-3

making the record 17-7 so far for the season. Although everyone knows I am not complaining about missing the UK-Vandy game.

Another big weekend in the SEC, so let's get right to it.

Kentucky at Tennessee--- (NOON- CBS)--- As the title suggests, any combination of a UK win or a Vandy loss gives the Cats at least a share of the SEC East Title, the first since 2005. After having…

The Krystal Ball--- The House of Horrors Edition---

Hello everyone and welcome back to another TKB. Last week I went 4-2 that makes the record 14-4 since I started doing this for basketball. A huge weekend in the SEC and one REALLY big game.

Kentucky at Vanderbilt--- (6:00 ESPN)--- No way around it, this game is huge for both teams. A win for the Cats and they can just about clinch the SEC East. If Vandy wins, then we are tied with four games to go.

A lot has been made of the home court advantage the Commodores…

Krystal Ball: The ESPN GameDay Edition

Hello everyone and welcome back to this edition of The Krystal Ball. Last week was a pretty good one, going 4-2. Another big weekend in the SEC so let's get to it.

Tennessee at Kentucky--- (ESPN 9:00)--- The Cats hope to play just a little bit better than they did during Tuesday's lack luster win over Alabama and for some reason I think they will. With the combination of the ESPN Gameday crew being there (minus Bobby Knight of course) and the debut of new uniforms, Rupp…

Krystal Ball: The Super Bowl Edition

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of The Krystal Ball. I want to thank everyone who commented during the thread I put up last night. I think on non-UK game nights we can do more of that. Last week was a pretty good one for the 'Ol KB going 5-1 again. Another big weekend in the SEC so here goes.

Kentucky at LSU--- (4:00 WKYT-SEC Network)--- The Cats have bounced back nicely since the loss to South Carolina and should…

Krystal Ball: The Bounce Back Edition

Hello everyone and welcomed back to a delayed version of TKB...a lot going on at my "real job" mostly concerning Winter Armageddon 2010: The Sequel.

Last week was a pretty good one...going 5-1 again for the week. I should have been 6-0 but changed my mind on the Alabama- Mississippi State game and lost. A few random thoughts...

With the win on Tuesday, South Carolina now ties Mississippi State for the longest current SEC win streak against Kentucky at 3.

Another stat… Continue
