In sports one of the highest honors a player can recieve is to have his number retired, never to be used again. In Chicago there will be no more #23 for the Bulls, no #3 in New York for the Yankees, or #13 in Miami for the Dolphins. Just mentioning these sacred numbers and people will know exactly who is being discussed.
But what about at UK? Here at the University of Kentucky they don't retire the numbers, but the jersey's of the greats who wear them. But what if the they did retire the numbers? Who would be the very best? Would #24 be Mashburn or Walker? Would #10 be Dampier, Minniefield, or Bogans?
If I'm a new player coming in and wasn't sure what number I wanted to wear I would definitely think about taking #43 just for the history at UK. How hard could it be to be the greatest player ever to wear #43. Just something to think about.

Jared Carter is the best. He gave four years and he worked his tail off every day. He deserves something good from Wildcat fans.
Really ?? I mean Really ..... I gave my vote to Brown Sharp I guess. Although I can say don't know anything about him. I gave it to him basically because like the Crystal Ball said he was on the 51' title team. Although it took me a second to realize that Lathrem sat on the end of the bench, I mean the END of the bench on maybe one if not the greatest college teams ever the 96' title team! I am just assuming that Sharp contributed more to the 51' team even if it was in practice. The 96' team was so good, some of their best games were against their own bench. Lathrem still couldn't get p.t. in practice! LOL.

I also voted for Sharp just because I don't know about him and i can't say he was terrible. The next number will be hard, Dan Issel, Cotton Nash, and Chuck Hayes are just a few.
I can't vote on this one. I just don't have enough information. In the case of Jared Carter, when he first came to UK I thought he might have promise. For one reason or another that never materialized. I like Jared and he seems to be a genuinely nice guy but he just never seemed to take off like I had hoped he would.
