I wouldn't forget about them, but I also wouldn't hold my breathe on their eligibility. We should know by Mid-November if they'll be eligible to enroll January, or if they'll both have to wait until next fall with most of the freshmen.
Johnson is a great pickup, and might fill the Mike linebacker spot for this class. Shields is a huge pickup because he fills a position of dire need. Robinson could play TE, but has a much higher upside at Center or Guard, Eatmon is a future Tackle in the Zipp Duncan mode, and Brause could play TE, but will need some polishing after playing QB in high school.
I would say there is hope to get Thorton, but I wouldn't keep my fingers crossed. Thorton is an elite player and he would likely have the raw athletic talent to step in and play immediately, maybe even start, as a true freshman at UK. Problem is UK is not as prestigeous as most of the other schools chasing him, and Kentucky entered the game a little late. Maybe the combination of Joker and his HS teammates pressuring him could make the difference though? You never say never when Joker Phillips is recruiting but I think nabbing Thorton would be unlikely.
Thanks for the update. What do you think of the new committments from Raymond Sanders' teammates Jabari Johnson and Ronnie Shields? Any hope of getting involved with their 4 star DT teammate Mike Thornton?
