Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of The Krystal Ball. Last week I tried out doing a basketball-themed blog and it seems to go pretty well, so I thought what the heck, let's do it again.
The Ol' Ball went 5-1 last week, losing the Vandy-South Carolina game. What does this weekend hold, time to take a look.
Arkansas at Kentucky--- (4:00--WKYT- SEC Network) As Save and others have told you, this isn't the same Razorback team from earlier in the season. Having Cortney Fortson back has made a world of difference for John Pelphrey. They play Florida at home tonight and should win that one.
On the other side, Kentucky comes in with a chance to go to Number 1 in the polls next week by winning. Given all that has gone on the last couple of years with this program, I think it is nothing short of remarkable.
Hopefully Coach Cal has gotten the players' attention and if they let down for 10-15 minutes in this one, Rotnei Clarke and company can pull the upset.
I think Kentucky realizes there is too much on the line to let that happen and will get to Number 1 for the first time since 2003.
Krystal Ball Says----- Kentucky 75-65
Mississippi State at Alabama--- (NOON- CBS)-- The Bulldogs are 3-0 and in firm control of the SEC West, but have struggled in every conference game. The Crimson Tide are looking to pull the upset. They had a chance against Tennessee but let it slip away. I think MSU will somehow slip by again.
Krystal Ball Says---- Mississippi State 70-66
Auburn at Vanderbilt--- (1:30-- SEC Network)--- The Commodores currently sit tied atop the SEC East after a big win against South Carolina last Saturday.
The Tigers got a big road win over LSU on Wednesday after nearly pulling the upset against Kentucky.
I think Ogilvy and company will be too much.
Krystal Ball Says----- Vanderbilt 83-68
Ole Miss at LSU--- (1:30-- SEC Network)--- The Rebels picked up a nice win over South Carolina on Wednesday after letting one slip away against Tennessee.
LSU lost at home to Auburn on Wednesday and might be the worst team in the league right now.
Krystall Ball Says----- Ole Miss 72-63
Tennessee at Georgia---(5:00-- Fox Sports South)---- OK so it is official, the Volunteers are MUCH better off without Tyler Smith. I still think they are going to lose some games, sooner than later.
The Bulldogs are 0-3 in the conference but have been close to pulling an upset in each game. This time I think they get it done.
Krystal Ball Says---- Georgia 69-65
South Carolina at Florida--- (6:00--- ESPN)--- If you go by what I said earlier, the Gators will be coming into this one off a loss. This would put UF at an unheard of 1-3 in the conference.
Carolina has lost two in a row after winning two to start conference play. This should be a good one but I think playing at home will help Billy D's club pull out the win.
Krystal Ball Says---- Florida 78-68
Looking ahead to next week, obviously the big game will be Tuesday night in which the hopefully newly Number One Kentucky heads to Columbia to play South Carolina. This game really scares me as UK has played either really good (two years ago) or really bad (do we even need to mention last year.)
Also Vandy plays at Tennessee and Mississippi State travels to Arkansas.
Well that is it for this edition of The Krystal Ball thanks for reading and for supporting Kentucky Sports Network.
