Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of The Krystal Ball. Last week was another pretty good week for the old ball going 5-2, although I think at some point I was losing every game last week. That makes the record 40-9 for the season. The state of Tennessee did me in last week in picking Vandy over Army and Georgia over Tennessee. Another big week in the SEC so let's get right to it.
Kentucky at Auburn (7:30 ESPNU) - We all know the story with Kentucky, losing a close one they could have won to South Carolina and in the process losing QB Mike Hartline. Now Rich Brooks' club heads south to face a formerly unbeaten Auburn team fresh off a huge loss to Arkansas.
Many folks seem to believe freshman Morgan Newton is going to get the start in this one, with Will Fidler playing some as well. You have to believe they will run the "Wildcat" some with Randall Cobb as well.
Before the season I picked Kentucky to win this one, and unfortunately I am going to do some waffling here.I think there are too many questions for the Cats to win this one.
Krystal Ball Says - Auburn 38-20
Georgia at Vanderbilt (12:20 SEC Network/WKYT) - This is a battle of two of the more disappointing teams in the SEC so far this season. The Commodores are coming off a loss to Army last week. The Bulldogs got pasted in Knoxville by the Volunteers. I think ultimately Georgia will score enough points to get the win and pretty much end any hopes for Vandy making a bowl game this year.
Krystal Ball Says - Georgia 23-14
Mississippi State at Middle Tennessee (12:30 ESPNU) - The Bulldogs have lost three in a row and hope to stop the slide against the Blue Raiders who are 3-2 this season.
This will be the first time an SEC school will have played a game at MTSU, and I think Dan Mullen's club will pull out the win.
Krystal Ball Says - Mississippi State 27-16
Arkansas at Florida (3:30 CBS) - We thought Kentucky was playing a difficult schedule, this will be the fourth consecutive game the Razorbacks will be playing a undefeated team at kickoff. The Gators and Tim Tebow passed their road test at LSU last week with flying colors and should be able to handle Ryan Mallett and company pretty easily.
Krystal Ball Says - Florida 41-20
UAB at Ole Miss (7:00 Fox Sports South) - So far this season the Rebels would probably qualify at one of the biggest underachievers in college football. Jevan Snead and company hope to get back on track against the Blazers who are 2-3. This is homecoming in Oxford and the Rebs should make it a happy one.
Krystal Ball Says - Ole Miss 45-17
South Carolina at Alabama (7:45 ESPN) - Steve Spurrier's club is coming off a big win against Kentucky last week, while The Tide got a big win over Ole Miss. This is the third time Spurrier and Nick Saban will have coached against each other. The Ol' Ball Coach is 2-0 against Saban, with those games coming while Saban was at LSU. I think Alabama will take this battle on Saturday.
Krystal Ball Says - Alabama 24-13
Tennessee and LSU have the week off this week. What do you think the outcome of the Kentucky -Auburn game will be?? Feel free to post your thoughts below. Thanks for reading and for supporting Kentucky Sports Network.
