The Krystal Ball-- The Week 11 Bowl Eligible and Basketball Too Edition---

  • Rating: No Rating
Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of The Krystal Ball. First I would like to thank everyone who commented on my Basketball Preview blog which you can read elsewhere on the site.
Last week was a good one for the 'Ol KB going 8-0 that runs the record to 63-13 for the season. Now if I had remembered to get my picks in before Noon on Saturday...anyway onto the games this week. First some basketball.

Morehead State at Kentucky--- (6:30 ESPNU)--- After what seems like forever, the John Calipari era finally gets underway at the University of Kentucky. We all know the story here, John Wall will not play, but Eric Bledsoe and Daniel Orton will. Donnie Tyndall's Eagles made the NCAA's last year and are picked to win the OVC this season.
I think this one will be close for a while, but eventually the Cats will pull away and defeat my alma mater.

Krystal Ball Says---- Kentucky 78-62

Kentucky at Vanderbilt--- (12:20 SEC Network/WKYT)--- Now onto some football. How many times have we seen this over the last few years. A five win Kentucky team heads into the game against Vandy needing one more win to become bowl eligible. This hasn't been the season Bobby Johnson was hoping for down in Nashville and a win here would be a huge boost.
It looks like Mike Harline and Randall Cobb will be back for this one, although it remains to be seen how much each will play. Even so I think the Cats will take this one and get bowl eligible.

Krystal Ball Says---- Kentucky 24-17

Tennessee at Ole Miss--- NOON-CBS--- It is hard to believe but a win here could put Tennessee at second place in the SEC East. The Rebels still have hopes for a New Year's Day bowl but must win here. I think the home crowd and Jevan Snead will put the Rebs over the top in what should be a close one.

Krystal Ball Says----- Ole Miss 21-17

Florida at South Carolina--- (3:30 CBS) ---- Interesting stat here, the Gators have won 19 in a row overall and 11 straight against SEC East Teams. Former Coach Steve Spurrier is 1-3 against UF since coming to Columbia. If you remember the Fighting Tebows won by 50 last year. I don't think it will be that bad.

Krystal Ball Says----- Florida 31-14

Alabama at Mississippi State--- (7:00 ESPN)--- Alabama kept their National Title hopes alive last week with a big win over LSU. The Bulldogs had a week off after beating Kentucky and need this one to help keep their hopes of a bowl alive.
The Rebels have won two of the last three, but I think the Tide takes this one.

Krystal Ball Says----- Alabama 21-13

Auburn at Georgia--- (7:00 ESPN2)--- This will be the 113th time these two teams have played, but will be the first since 1991 that neither team has been ranked. Georgia hasn't lost five games in a season since 1996 and they still have Georgia Tech to play. This one could be a shoot-out.

Krystal Ball Says----- Georgia 34-28

Louisiana Tech at LSU---- (7:00 ESPNU)--- After their tough loss to Alabama last week, the Tigers get a bit of a break this week before finishing with Ole Miss and Arkansas. This is the 18th time these schools have played and LSU's only loss was in 1904. I don't think they will lose this week either.

Krystal Ball Says----- LSU 35-14

Troy at Arkansas---- (7:30 Comcast/ESPN Game Plan)--- Bobby Petrino's Razorbacks are going for bowl eligibility this week and should get it against the Trojans. However it might not be that easy of a game. Troy has won seven in a row since losing to Florida back on September 12th.

Krystal Ball Says---- Arkansas 41-24

Well that does it for this week. As always feel free to post your comments and picks below. Thanks for reading and for supporting Kentucky Sports Network.

Wow I actually had the point spread right on the game and was only off by 6 on the total score...
Yeah that will never happen again...
Go Cats
