Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of The Krystal Ball. I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Day and weekend. Last week was another pretty good one for me, going 5-1 (the only loss of course being the Kentucky-Georgia game) and 2-0 in basketball. That brings the record to 76-14 for the season.
A lot going on this weekend but the question on everyone's mind is..."Is this the year the streak will end??"
Tennessee at Kentucky---- (7:00 ESPNU)--- As we all know the Wildcats have broken two long streaks already this season with wins at Auburn and Georgia. Not that we need a reminder but the Vols streak over Kentucky is the longest current streak among teams who play every year. Put it this way, if the streak was a human, it would be old enough to drive, vote and drink.
The winner of this game is likely heading to the Outback Bowl, or at worst the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
One of the biggest questions going into the game is simply "Is this Rich Brooks' last game at Commonwealth??" That is a question for another time but I say no. If it turns out to be then he is going out a winner.
Krystal Ball Says---- Kentucky 24-21
Alabama at Auburn--- (Friday 2:30 CBS---) This is the annual meeting of the Iron Bowl. The Crimson Tide need this one to stay at number 2 in the BCS rankings before next week's showdown with Florida. The Tigers are trying to stay in the hunt for the Outback Bowl as well.
Bama snapped a six game winning streak by Auburn last season and this year I think they will make it two in a row.
Krystal Ball Says---- Alabama 23-13
Clemson at South Carolina---- (NOON ESPN)--- The Tigers have won 10 out of the last 12 in this series and are looking at a berth in the ACC title game next week.
The Game C's are doing their yearly swoon at the end of the season, losing three in a row. All signs point to a Clemson win but I am going to go with the upset.
Krystal Ball Says---- South Carolina 21-17
Ole Miss at Mississippi State---- (12:20 SEC Network---) This will be the annual Egg Bowl between the two teams...Egg Bowl...Really. Anyway after last week's win against LSU, the Rebels are in line for a possible Cotton Bowl berth. On the other side Dan Mullen's club is hoping to pull the upset.
I don't think it is going to happen.
Krystal Ball Says------ Ole Miss 35-21
Florida State at Florida---- (3:30 CBS)---- Let's all pause for a moment of silence to reflect on Tim Tebow's last game in Gainesville. Ok it might not be that bad on Saturday but probably pretty close. What I think is more interesting is will this be Bobby Bowden's last regular season game with the Seminoles. The Gators have won five in a row in the series and I don't think they will have much trouble getting to six.
Krystal Ball Says----- Florida 41-17
Arkansas at LSU---- (7:00 ESPN)--- Both coaches in this one, mainly Bobby Petrino, seem to be annoyed this game was moved from its traditional Friday afternoon game to Saturday this year. The Tigers are trying to forget about their clock management meltdown against Ole Miss last week. The Razorbacks are surging of late and are looking to win a third straight against LSU. The last time that happened was 1927-29. I think the home crowd will put the Tigers over the top.
Krystal Ball Says----- LSU 24-21
Georgia at Georgia Tech (8:00 ABC)---- After last week's win by the Cats, Georgia is trying to avoid its first six loss season since 1996. The Yellow Jackets have one of the best offensive teams in college football and I don't think it looks good for the Bulldogs.
Krystal Ball Says------ Georgia Tech 42-24
Vanderbilt finished its season last week. Well that is it for now, thanks for reading and for supporting Kentucky Sports Network.
