Hello everyone and welcome back to another Krystal Ball. Last week was a pretty good one going 7-2, missing the Missouri game and the Vanderbilt game. That makes the record 16-2 so far this season.
As the title suggests there is apparently a big game this weekend, so let's get to it.
Louisville at Kentucky- (4:00- CBS)- You know most of the stats behind this one already, the meeting of the last two National Champs, the current UK Coach vs. the former Coach etc.
Cal is 4-1 against Pitino since coming to Kentucky with last year's squad losing by 3 at the chicken bucket.
The Cats can't afford to get in a early hole like they have done many times this year or they might not be able to make it up.
I think the key is going to be for Kentucky to pound the ball inside and try to get the Cards' bigs in foul trouble.
Russ Smith is more than likely going to have a big game, but you wonder if the Cats' size in the back court will make a difference.
Quite simply UK needs this game a lot more that UL does. This is Kentucky's last chance to get a quality non-conference win and with it being 10 days before UK plays again, that might seems more like 100 days.
Honestly I could see anything from a UL 10 point win to a UK 10+ win but I am going to go somewhere in the middle for my pick.
Krystal Ball Says- Kentucky 74-68
Akron at South Carolina- (4:00 ESPNU)- This is little bit of a weird one because these two teams just played on Wednesday night in Hawaii with the Gamecocks winning 69-59. They now play again three days later.
At home I think that Frank Martin's team wins again.
Krystal Ball Says- South Carolina 73-62
Missouri at NC State- (8:00- ESPN2)- The Tigers fell from the ranks of the unbeatens last week losing a tough one to Illinois. They face a Wolfpack club who is 9-2 but haven't beaten anybody. I am going with the visitors in this one.
Krystal Ball Says- Missouri 78-70
McNeese State at LSU-(8:00 ESPN Full Court)- The Tigers have continued to impress so far in the pre-conference season. They host a bad Cowboys club who only scored 36 points in their last game. This should be a blow out.
Krystal Ball Says- LSU 82-55
High Point at Arkansas- (8:00 ESPN Full Court)- The Razorbacks come into this one on a five game winning streak. They face a Panther squad who quite frankly isn't very good. This also should be a blow out.
Krystal Ball Says- Arkansas 84-58
Georgia at Colorado- (10:00 Pac 12 Network)- The Bulldogs hit the road for a tough game, heading to Boulder for a game against the Buffaloes. Mark Fox's club has won five in a row against bad teams but this is a big step up. I don't see them having much of a chance here.
Krystal Ball Says- Colorado 75-57
Alabama at UCLA- (10:00 ESPN2)- At 5-6 to say things haven't gone well in Tuscaloosa would be a big understatement and there is a lot of talk abot Anthony Grant's job. A win at a good UCLA squad would certainly help. I just don't see it happening.
Krystal Ball Says- UCLA 78-64
Savannah State at Florida- (3:00 Sunday)- The Tigers come into Gainesville with a 1-10 record. Yeah this one will probably be ugly.
Krystal Ball Says- Florida 90-52
Virginia at Tennessee- (7:00 Monday ESPN2)- This one has the potential to be a very good game. The Vols have played well at times this year, and really bad too. The same can be said for the Cavaliers. This should be a close one but I will go with the SEC in this one.
Krystal Ball Says- Tennessee 69-66
Ole Miss at Western Kentucky- (8:00 Monday ESPN Full Court)- This is another one that should be a good game. The Hilltoppers are tough at home and the Rebels have Marshall Henderson. I am going to go with Henderson and company here.
Krystal Ball Says- Ole Miss 73-67
That's it for this week, thanks for reading and for checking out KSN.
