TKB: The Can The Cats Beat the MAC Edition

  • Rating: No Rating

Hello everyone and welcome to another Krystal Ball. The Ol' Ball got off to a good start last week with a perfect 13-0 record, although it would have been nice to have missed the UK game or been a little closer on the score.

Anyway it is another big week for the SEC with two very interesting conference games, so let's get to it.

Kent State vs. Kentucky- (Comcast Sports 7:30)- As of this writing on Thursday afternoon I really don't know if Time-Warner or someone is goint to pick this game up and show it. The sad thing is a lot of fans probably don't care.

The Cats looked good at times on offense on Sunday, the defense did not. The Golden Flashes got lots of pub by having a player run a fumble back the wrong way.

Joker needs a blowout win in this one, the Cats will win but by not that big of a margin.

Krystal Ball Says- Kentucky 27-17

Auburn at Mississippi State- (NOON ESPN)- The Bulldogs looked good in a rout of Jackson State last week. The Tigers lost a close one to a Clemson team who was playing without their best player.

Hard to think Auburn could start 0-2 but I think that will be the case in what should be a close game.

Krystal Ball Says- Mississippi State 24-20

East Carolina at South Carolina- (12:21 SEC Network)- The Gamecocks went into Vandy and pulled out a tight win last week but QB Connon Shaw injured his non-throwing shoulder. The back-up Dylan Thompson looked horrible against Vandy. However I think we will see a lot of Marcus Lattimore in this one.

Krystal Ball Says- South Carolina 31-13

Florida at Texas A&M- (3:30 ESPN)- After having their first game postponed because of Hurrican Issac last week the Aggies finally step onto the field as a member of the SEC. What a first game it could be against a Gators team that looked bad last week in a win over Bowling Green.

There has been some good trash talking back and forth in this one and I am going to go with the newbies in this one.

Krystal Ball Says- Texas A&M- 28-24

Western Kentucky at Alabama- (3:39 SEC Network)- I have no idea why this game starts at 3:39 but whatever. The Tide looked awesome last week in dismantling Michigan while the Toppers blew out Austin Peay.

The point spread on this one is 40, that may be a little much but the newly #1 ranked Tide should romp.

Krystal Ball Says- Alabama 52-13

Washington at LSU- (7:00 ESPN)- The Tigers struggled at times last week in beating North Texas. This week they will face a Husky club that is actually pretty good.

I think the Tigers do win fairly easily though.

Krystal Ball Says- LSU 38-14

UTEP at Ole Miss- (7:00 Fox Sports South)- The Miners took Oklahoma to the wire last week while the Rebels had to struggle to beat Central Arkansas.

I really want to pick UTEP in this one but I am going with Hugh Freeze's team (I can't get past that name) to win.

Krystal Ball Says- Ole MIss 23-20

Louisiana-Monroe at Arkansas- (7:00 ESPNU)- This one will be played in Little Rock but in all honesty, it doesn't matter where they play. Wilson, Davis and company should romp in this one to set up that huge game against Alabama next week.

Krystal Ball Says- Arkansas 48-10

Georgia at Missouri- (7:45 ESPN2)- The other huge game in the SEC this week features the first home game for the Tigers against the East favorites from Athens.

LIke the A&M-Florida game there has been no shortage of trash talking in this one. I am going to go with the Bulldogs in what should be a whale of a game.

Krystal Ball Says- Georgia 31-28

Vanderbilt at Northwestern- (8:00 Big Ten Network)- The Commodores almost pulled off the upset last week against South Carolina while the Wildcats went into Syracuse and got a win.

James Franklin's club is much better than the Orange so I am going with the SEC here.

Krystal Ball Says- Vanderbilt 35-31

Georgia State at Tennessee- (8:00 ESPN3)- The Vols got a big win over NC State last week, which got a few folks back on the Derek Dooley bandwagon. They should roll in this one before they play Florida next week.

Krystal Ball Says- Tennessee 34-14

That is it for this week, thanks for reading and for supporting KSN.

Ok so not nearly as good of a week as last...Arkansas...are you kidding me??? Also missed the A&m and Vandy games. 8-3 isn't horrible I guess and it sure was nice to see UK win in a blowout.

Well I didn't actually see the game but you know...

As it turns out, unless you happen to get Comcast in your area, there is no local TV for the game tomorrow.

Time-Warner isn't picking it up and neither is WKYT. This is the first time in I don't know how long a UK football game won't be available locally.
