TKB: The Can The Cats Break the Streak Edition

  • Rating: No Rating

Hello everyone and welcome to another Krystal Ball, a day late but here to make all sorts of predictions. First I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving, I know our family did.

Anyway onto business, last week I went 8-0 making the season record 77-12 and 2-0 in basketball. Lots of rivalry games so let's get to it.

Tennessee at Kentucky- (12:20 SEC Network/WKYT)- 26 that is the number that matters here. It is unreal to me in this era of college football that one team can win 26 straight times over another.

A lot of the discussion this week has not centered on the streak but rather will Joker be back next year. I think he will but a win would do a lot to help that.

In the last 10 years, at least five times Kentucky has had the better team, but still hasn't won. As much as I hate to say this, no reason to think it will change.

Krystal Ball Says- Tennessee 31-17

Arkansas at LSU- (2:30- CBS)- This one is for the SEC West and for possibly #1 in the BCS. Surprisingly the Razorbacks have won three of the last four against the Tigers.

This one has potential to be a classic, but I think the Tigers take this one and head into the SEC Championship game at 12-0.

Krystal Ball Says- LSU 28-20

Georgia at Georgia Tech- (NOON- ESPN)- The Bulldogs have gone from 0-2 to rolling off nine in a row and winning the SEC East.

They face a tough test in this one as the Yellow Jackets are second in the nation in rushing offense, while the Bulldogs are second in rushing defense.

This should go down to the wire but I will go with the home team in this one.

Krystal Ball Says- Georgia Tech 27-24

Alabama at Auburn- (3:30 CBS)- This is the annual "Iron Bowl" and Bama needs this one to cement its claim as #2 and reserve a chance in the BCS Championship Game.

The Tigers have actually won 7 of the last 10 in the series but I think Saban and company punch their ticket to New Orleans in this one.

Krystal Ball Says- Alabama 31-17

Vanderbilt at Wake Forest- (3:30 ESPNU)- The Commodores need this one to become bowl eligible, which would be their second since 1982.

If they were playing at home I would pick James Franklin's team, but I dont think they will get the job done here.

Krystal Ball Says- Wake Forest 24-20

Florida State at Florida- (7:00 ESPN2)- For the first time since 1986, neither team is ranked in the Battle of the Sunshine State.

The Gators managed to become bowl eligible last week and hope to improve their bowl standing in this one.

The Seminoles broke a UF five game winning streak last year and this year I think they make it two in a row.

Krystal Ball Says- Florida State 23-21

Ole Miss at Mississippi State- (7:00 ESPNU)- This will be Houston Nutt's last game in Oxford and the Bulldogs need this one to become bowl eligible.

The Rebels have never had a 10 loss season in the school's history...until now.

Krystal Ball Says- Mississippi State 34-17

Clemson at South Carolina- (7:45 ESPN)- This is the 110th meeting in this series but will be only the 4th time both teams have been ranked.

The Tigers got drilled last week by North Carolina State and even though most folks are picking Clemson, I will go with Spurrier and company to make it four in a row over their in-state rivals.

Krystal Ball Says- South Carolina 24-20

NOw a little basketball...

Portland at Kentucky- (7:00 Fox Sports South)- Last season the Cats stopped in Oregon on their way to the Maui Classic and played one of their best road games of the year in beating a good Pilots team 79-48.

Portland lost quite a few guys from last year's team and come into the game with a 2-3 record.

I think the Cats win easy in a final tune-up before the schedule picks up next week.

Krystal Ball Says- Kentucky 92-58

That is it for this week, thanks for reading and for supporting KSN.
