TKB- The Cats vs. The Cards (and a Tropical Storm Too) Edition

  • Rating: No Rating

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Krystal Ball. First let me say thanks to everyone who commented on my season predictions blog, I appreciate it.

Hard to believe it is time for football season but it kicks into full swing this weekend. Lots of games this weekend so let's get right to it.

Kentucky at Louisville- (Sunday 3:30 ESPN)- The Cats go into this one a 14 point underdog and there are many who believe the Cards are way overconfident and are thinking Joker's club can pull off the upset.

I am not willing to go that far but I think it is going to be a closer game that most folks think. It also looks as if the game will be played in a huge rain storm with the remants of Hurrican Issac. This will probably lead to a lot of turnovers and a lot of running the ball. Whoever controls the line of scrimmage will win.

The Cats keep it close but Charlie Strong gets another win over Joker.

Krystal Ball Says- Lousiville 20-13

South Carolina at Vanderbilt- (7:00 ESPN)- The Gamecocks are the pick of many, including myself to win the SEC East this year. However they start with a tough one down in Nashville. James Franklin has the Commodores believing they can have a winning record at least this year. I think this will be close but I am going with Coach Superior's club.

Krystal Ball Says- South Carolina 23-20

Tennessee vs. NC State- (Friday 7:30 ESPNU)- This is one of two annual Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Games played down in Atlanta.

The Vols made news last week when star WR Da'Rick Rogers was dismissed from the team, although some wonder how much he will actually be missed when Justin Hunter is a better player.

Much like Joker, Derek Dooley needs a good season and a win here would certainly help.

Krystal Ball Says- Tennessee 20-17

Buffalo at Georgia- (12:21 SEC Network)- The Bulldogs are the favorites of many to win the SEC East and big things are expected of Marc Richt's club. The more interesting note will be who lines up at Running Back.

Krystal Ball Says- Georgia 52-14

Bowling Green at Florida- (3:30 ESPN)- Will Muschamp hopes for bigger and better things in year two down in Gainesville. The Gators will spend most of this game trying to decide who the starting QB will be.

Krystal Ball Says- Florida 31-10

Auburn vs. Clemson- (7:00- ESPN) This is the second game of the Chick-Fil-A Classic and this should be a good one. Clemson All-American WR Sammy Clemens is suspended for this game but a bigger question is who will play QB for Auburn.

This one is a toss-up but I am going with the ACC in this battle of the Tigers.

Krystal Ball Says- Clemson 24-20

North Texas at LSU- (7:00 ESPNU)- The game may not be played until Sunday because of Hurricane Issac. The Tigers made a lot of news with the Honey Badger being kicked off the team.  Don't think they would need him here anyway.

Krystal Ball Says- LSU 49-14

Jackson State at Mississippi State- (Fox Sports South 7:00)- Another coach who is hoping for bigger things in 2012 is Dan Mullen. JSU lost their star QB and its Offensive Coordinator from last year but still could make things intersting for a while.

Krystal Ball Says- Mississippi State 35-17

Alabama vs. Michigan- (8:00 ABC)- This is the annual Cowboys Classic played at the new Cowboys Stadium. The defending National Champs lost Trent Richardson among others but I think Nick Saban's club will Roll in this one- pun intended.

Krystal Ball Says- Alabama 31-13

Central Arkansas at Ole Miss- (8:00 NO TV)- The Rebels kick off the season under new Coach Hugh Freeze and are hoping for big things.

The Bears went 9-4 last season and much like the Miss. St. game this could be a battle.

Krystal Ball Says- Ole Miss 27-14

Jacksonville State at Arkansas-(8:00 NO TV)- It has been quite the off-season down in Fayetteville and the Razorbacks are dark horse title contenders.

I don't see Wilson, Davis and company having any trouble in this one.

Krystal Ball Says- Arkansas 52-10

Southeastern Louisiana at Missouri- (8:00 NO TV)- The Tigers kick off play as a member of the SEC with a game against the Lions.

I think the first game will be a successful one for the Tigers who host Georgia next week.

Krystal Ball Says- Missouri 37-13

The game between Texas A&M and Nicholls State has already been postponed until October 13th.

Well that is it for this week, lots of football going on. As always I would like to hear from you.

Ok so on the positive side I went perfect for the week. On the negative, not so good with the UK-UL pointspread.

Cats open as a 7 point favorite for Saturday.

Well that was a nice win for South Carolina last night but you can't tell me that wasn't pass interference.
