Hood has up and downs in practices so far. A former player who has been around the program for a long time said that Hood at times can score at will but then he disappears at times. He said that Hood is very competitive but sometimes needs to learn to pass instead of taking it strong to the hole or just simply take what the defense gives you instead of trying to force things.
Right now Hood isn't strong enough to make things happen and gets tired very easily. However, the talent is there and when he adds some muscle and develops some more, this former player, think Hood will be a very good player.
Good thing about Jon is that he doesn't back down to all the talent around him in practice but he needs to learn that there is a difference between not backing down and playing smart. You can be aggressive and not back down but it doesn't always mean you have to force things.
Nevertheless, the people I talked to say that Hood will contribute when he is in the game because he can flat out score. One assistant said that Hood is the kind of kid you won't hear anything from for several games then he will come out one game and score 10 points off the bench.
All the people I talked to think Hood will be very good but he is just one of those players that need that first year experience and development behind him before you see the true Hood.
