Darnell Dodson could become the second commitment of the John Calipari Era in the very near future. Here is a first look at Dodson from the 2007 Capital Classic in College Park, MD. Dodson finished this game with 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.

Thanks Save! I actually shot this video while still working in DC. I went to the Capital Classic to shoot the undercard game which featured former Cat Mike Williams.

This kid is no diamond in the rough....he's the polished version. Yes he is a "Ready for Prime Time Player."

Well, I'm impressed! I know the video is old but another couple years of maturity can only help. Does anyone know if the gain of two inches or so in height has altered his play in any way?

I'm not going to lie when I first heard that we were going after him I cringed and wasn't too excited. Too many years of Tubby and Billy where he struck out on the top guys, but magically found this diamond in the rough that no one else was interested in, but we knew was going to be amazing. Then 6 months later we saw was a low talent schlub. But in Cal we trust. Dodson was recruited by him to Memphis orginally and the guy does look like he can play the dribble drive.

He has reportedly grown two inches from 6'6" to 6'8" since his senior year. He looks perfect for the dribble drive motion offense.

I would have loved to have had Henry but honestly we might be better off with Dodson. I would rather see Jodie be the man at 2, with Darius at the 3. Add Dodson to the mix to backup both and I think we might have a better combination

I actually shot the Capital Classic while I was still working in D.C. and my main reason for being there that night was to shoot video of Mike Williams who played in the undercard game! No offense to Mike but I am glad to see the level of recruits has made a huge jump for us. When I went to edit this tape tonight I had several shots of Dodson shooting from long range, unfortunately none of them fell for him.

Thanks for the video! Obviously this video is almost two years old now and from what I have read it looks like he has grown quite a bit. He kind of reminds me a little bit of Darius Miller from what I see here. Let's hope he is a Cat soon!
